Dr. Brandon C. Burnsed is a highly skilled general neurosurgeon with extensive training in both endovascular and open vascular treatments, making him one of only a handful of neurosurgeons in the country with this dual expertise. Since joining Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic in 2018, Dr. Burnsed has provided exceptional care to patients in the Triangle area and beyond. He is board certified in neurosurgery and brings a broad spectrum of expertise to the practice, encompassing general neurosurgery, robotic-assisted spinal fusions, and advanced neurovascular procedures.
Originally from Savannah, Georgia, Dr. Burnsed attended Georgia Southern University on a baseball scholarship, where he excelled both athletically and academically. He earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine and went on to complete his neurosurgical training at the University of Mississippi. Further honing his skills, he completed a prestigious two-year endovascular and cerebrovascular fellowship at Semmes-Murphey Clinic in Memphis.
Dr. Burnsed has authored numerous publications on neurosurgical topics and is committed to advancing the field through innovation and patient-centered care. His expertise in robotic-assisted spinal fusions complements his neurovascular specialization, allowing him to offer comprehensive treatment options tailored to each patient’s needs.
In his spare time, Dr. Burnsed enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors.
“The first thing that always stands out with me when I meet this phenomenal young man (I'm 73 so he is a young man to me), is his calm demeanor, his quiet attention when I speak. His honest way of explaining things and level of perfectionism. This may sound weird but being in his presence gives me peace of mind. Sometimes when we are in pain, we just need someone to listen and give us honest feedback. He was that way in 2020 when I first met him & in 2021 when he performed back fusion on my lower back. He was the same when I met him today, June 18, 2025. I am blessed to have had him as my surgeon.”
