Dr. McCall joined Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic and Eastern Regional Specialists in 2021. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, he earned his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Middlebury College in Vermont. He then spent several years in basic science research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City before completing medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.

He began his postgraduate training with an internship and two years of residency in General Surgery, where he developed a deep interest in pharmacology and physiology. That interest led him to Anesthesiology, and he completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, followed by a fellowship there in Pain Medicine.

Double board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Dr. McCall provides comprehensive care for a wide range of pain conditions, with a focus on interventional spine treatment. He stays at the forefront of the field and was the first physician in the Triangle to perform the Intracept procedure, a minimally invasive treatment for vertebrogenic low back pain.

He has contributed to numerous research projects throughout his training and career, with publications in Microbiology, PLoS One, and Pain Medicine Case Reports. He was named Intern of the Year during his General Surgery internship and Pain Clinic Resident of the Year at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Outside of medicine, Dr. McCall enjoys relaxing and gardening with his wife, following MotoGP, playing video games, and above all being a dedicated father to his son and daughter. He and his wife share their home with the family’s golden retriever, Ruby.
